nostalgia reads

Books that I read in my childhood that hold a special place in my heart. Most of these I've re-read in adulthood and, you know what, they still hold up!

my thoughts

Fairy Wings, E. D. Baker

This is the only one I haven't re-read recently. HOWEVER, I remember this book, and I loved it so much. I was a fairy-obsessed kid, and I wanted to be the main character so badly.

The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May, and June, Robin Benway

I definitely read this when I was too young, but I love books focussing on familial relationships. I also love characters with special powers, and this was the perfect mix of both.

Avalon High, Meg Cabot

I was absolutely obsessed with this book. The folklore, the fun characters!

I hated the movie, though.

The Tale of Despereaux, Kate DiCamillo

My teacher read this to us in Grade 7, and I loved it. I re-read it a couple years ago, and it's just as good. The style in which this is written is so soft.

The Girl Who Could Fly, Victoria Forester

I've probably re-read this one the most. Super-powered children? Platonic bonds? I read this before the other two books in the series came out (which aren't nearly as good--I'm sorry).

Dark Visions, L. J. Smith

I think this book changed something in me. It's another super-powered book about the characters going to a school specifically for them (only, this time, they're teens).
